The Byzantine Church of Kalampaka is located in the old quarters of the city, an early Christian church built around the 4th or 5th century. Today is dedicated to the Assumption of Virgin Mary. This monument is the most important in the entire area of Meteora. It brings together many different historical periods that are integrated into its architectural features during the 17 centuries that it stands under the huge rocks of Meteora. The Byzantine church of Kalampaka is the only church in the world today with an early Christian pulpit or pulpit preserved in the center of the church.
